More Choices Inc. has partnered with Oakland’s Technology Exchange (OTX) WEST, to provide the
“Get Connected” Technology Camp. The technology camp is sponsored by Western Digital
Foundation, Fremont.CA.
Activities: Participants will receive instruction; over 25 hours in Multimedia Skills Story-Telling and 25
hours for disassembling and building re-furbished computers. Students will also receive free
transportation, lunch and snacks. A field trip to Western Digital and the Tech Museum are culminating
activities.
Objectives:
• To expose youth to technology and careers focused on technology
• To improve the self-esteem of participants
• To support literacy development using technology
• To provide comprehensive activities resulting in productive social
responsibility
• To offer skills that are transferable into tangible employment
• To offer an alternative to traditional careers through hands on
exposure to technical careers and promote character development

Parks and Recreation, Merritt Community College, Oakland Police
Activities League, Oakland Technology Exchange, East Oakland Youth
Development Center, KMEL Radio, Channel 2 TV, and City of Oakland.
